Confident people scan the room and are matching the eye contact they get when they scan.

When I am scanning a room and I see a girl looking back at me, my look turns into a smiling gaze. I have had numerous very positive reactions from this simple move and have heard more than one girl explaining that when out in the world, a guy who smiles at her is VERY attractive, it makes her feel good right off the bat.
It seems so basically obvious by reading this written in a paragraph, a smile that comes your way is very attractive and welcoming, yet many of us forget this. I see many guys waiting for the smiles to come their way first. By being the leader of the interactions in your world, you can set the tempo to what you will enjoy most to start off with, a smile back.
Getting something like a smile back is also a very ‘rejection-proof’ invite on the girl’s part to be approached by you. You can walk right over to her, at that moment, and simply say hi to her.
She basically invited you to come over, so she will be very receptive to you getting there.
This also is a great tempo to start your contact with a new girl. You sent an unspoken signal to her by smiling; she reacted to your unspoken signal to your smile by smiling back. You respond to her smile back by walking over.
Girls love communication that happens in subtext, subtly through things like body language, tonality and unspoken cues. Right as you get up to her to say hi, she will have a feeling of you two clicking in a way ‘beneath the surface’ right off the bat.
